Leadership Lessons from Maha Shivratri.
Leadership Lessons from Maha Shivratri.
Today we celebrate the Hindu festival of Maha Shivratri and I am sharing with you what Leadership lessons I learned from this festival
The word Maha translates to grand and Shivratri to the night of Shiva. As the name suggests, this festival is celebrated to honour Lord Shiva.
Clarity of Mind
Lord Shiva is a great meditator and is embodied to have an undeterred level of concentration.
In today’s life, people are constantly in stress due to high pressure jobs and they find it difficult to concentrate.
A manager should improve his concentration levels by practicing meditation techniques to have a focused mind. A manager who has a meditative approach is able to deal with difficult situations and always come up with a best solutions after evaluating various alternatives to a solution.
Transform Negativity into Positivity.
A Famous mythological reference which says that at the time of ‘samudra manthan’, Shiva held the poison churned out from the ocean in his throat, due to which his throat turned blue. Hence he is known as ‘Neel-kanth’.
Lesson from this incident is how well one can turn the negatives into positives.
Always Life will throws us events, just like the Covid in the recent times, But it is how we respond that creates the outcome. If we respond to it positively the outcome is positive.
If we respond with negatively then the outcome will also be negative.
The Unseen Third eye and Organisation culture.
Maha Shivratri is considered an ideal time for self-reflection.
Lord Shiva is also known as "Trinetradhari" (tri: three; netradhari: the owner of eyes). The third eye of Lord Shiva exemplifies wisdom.
A good leader should train to see and reflect through his “third eye”. The irony is that all of us possess the Third Eye, but most of us are unaware of its presence. The Intuitive eye.
It’s like the culture in an organisation. One can see tangible things in an organisation but culture has to be felt.
While I interact with many leaders and managers, few patterns I gather, leaders and managers are grappling to find solutions to the below common problems.
· Misalignment or lack of collaboration of their key personnel,
· Lack of personal accountability by team members.
· This lead to lower confidence and morale
· And creates further trust deficits and poor work Culture.
The Mind-set of a leader plays a vital role in finding solutions to the above problems. He has to look through his third eye of Intuition to constantly work to
· Having high-quality coaching at all levels to think outwardly.
· Executing fair and accurate systems for accelerating talent
· Having high-quality leadership development programs in place, curated towards each individual need.
· Leveraging high-quality leadership assessment and feedback programs to identify strengths and weaknesses, which opens up more targeted development
Maha Shivratri is a significant festival in Hinduism, however, if you look deep into its meaning and significance, one can also easily see the spiritual guidance this festival brings.
If leaders can interpret this guidance well, they can become better role models. To do so, one must remember the essence of Maha Shivratri -- self-reflection, Clarity of mind, Transforming negativity into positivity and an openness to eliminating darkness and ignorance, and finally to move towards enlightenment.
What is your take away today on this great festival of Shiva?
Wishing you a very Happy Maha Shivratri.
