New Year Resolutions For The Entrepreneur In You

The New Year has just dawn upon us it’s time to make all those important resolutions. A lot of sacrifice has been done to get me to where I am today and I still have a long way to go. I would like to share few of my tiny habits I have found that helped me in the long run. Delegate, train and communicate - These are things that are usually hard to do because it would mean transfer of control and takes a lot of effort upfront. Letting go is the biggest step one has to take when working in an environment of collectiveness. I was fortunate learn this from my managers and leaders who shaped my career. The moment you let go with a clear understanding of why you do what you do with your team, you find there is a lot more time on your hands to think and create more strategic initiatives.
How much are you and your organisation in this space? Your digital footprint - The world is embracing social media at a faster rate than you and I can think. Brush off the dust on your marketing strategy and do everything from a Digital standpoint. Your reach is measured and impactful. The world is rapidly moving into Digital space. Stop, Drop and Roll - If it doesn’t work, do not dwell on it. Try new methods, strategies and more. I am fan of well-known management guru on strategy and innovation, Vijay Govindarajan. He says in a simple way, every organisation and individual must think what ’new’ will you do in the coming New year, what will you ‘retain’ from the past, what will you ‘destroy ‘from the past. For me it resonates with simple Hindu teachings. Brahma the creator, Vishnu the sustainer, Shiva the destroyer. In each of us we should possess the Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. That is to create something new, Sustain of the past, Destroy aspect of irrelevant past in us, See what works and find the fit that suits you.
Learn a thing or two - Learn a new skill, talent or take up a hobby. Whether it is connected to your business or not is completely up to you! Balance your work-life equation with more stability this coming year. What worked for me is to master a skill in Paragliding. The amount I learned in this sport is just phenomenal. To be one with Nature has taught me a lot and has helped me to calm my mind and be in a  balance when complex situations confront me. Many a time it’s our fear that limits, that creates the boundary.
Your body is your temple - A strong mind needs a strong body to rely on. My daily commitment to do my exercise, yoga and mediate. A fit body leads to a fitter mind.
These are just some of the tiny habits I have found that helped me. Make an effort to Recall, Reflect, Remedy. Make this a daily practice. If you have some time for yourself during the day, or at night before you go to sleep, try this out. Think of all the happenings of the day or a way in which you could have handled the situation better. And most importantly, Remember these notes you make to yourself and let them make you Renewed this New Year!
