Is the Gandhian philosophy valid in today’s world?

As we just celebrated 149th year of Gandhi Jayanthi yesterday, I would like to share my best wishes to all readers and talk about his vision and commitment he demonstrated.

Mahatma Gandhiji is my hero and many stories of this great man inspire me. I have always held in awe the “Commitment” he demonstrated. In my view there cannot be better example for commitment than him. It is amazing to know how ONE man with so much commitment was determined to win independence for our country. He did not think beyond Freedom. His mind and work was only on Independent and Free India.

It’s always fascinated me that he stayed so much committed to his vision of Independent India, that inspite of his own personal family challenges. His first Son Harilal, who Gandhi ji loved so much, was cause of High concern. At one stage Mahatma himself wrotein one of the letters"You should know that your problem has become much more difficult for me than even our national freedom," in reference to allegations of inappropriate behavior by Harilal.Imagine in 1920 s that an Indian having 4 children and a wife commit to a cause that is beyond him and his family. His thoughts and ideologies is still followed by a lot of people, his legacy of ideas still continues in today’s world. His teachings and practice is becoming more and more relevant to the world that we live in.

Commitment is something personal which one should aspire to be and not merely imitate by somebody’s living. Gandhiji hailing from an ordinary Indian family faced a lot of discrimination andinequality when he was denied permission to travel in the train. This incident shattered his identity and compelled him to make a commitment to achieve something great and carve an identity for himself. It is interesting to witness the occurrence of similar incidents in lives of manyhistorically great beings who had limited identification in their own small world. Their identification suddenly got shattered with some life changing incidents, and these moments helped them to relate to outside world. Among the freedom fighters who fought for Independence the only attribute that made Mahatma unique was his commitment to work. By being committed to whatever I do in life, I have had many wonderful experiences personally and professionally Iam sharing a few tips on how to stay committed in life.

1. Always dream high to reach the zenith. To achieve that commit yourself to something BIG

2. Evolve with your commitments but do not lose FOCUS on your commitment.

3. Let your commitments be REALISTIC with the current trends in the world. Commit, Review, Renew and Follow again.

4. Never fear FAILURES as failures only make you stronger in life.

5. Commit to a GOAL but never get committed to its consequences.

6. Remove the OBSTACLES hindering your commitments.

7. Do not fear to COMMIT as nothing is certain in life

8. Commit to simple LIFE and living.

9. Live life and inspire committed LIVING to all beings in this world.
